I was 18 in Madison Wisconsin when we awoke one morning to find hundreds of pink plastic flamingos blanketing Bascom Hill, one of the many perfectly timed pranks pulled by the Pail & Shovel party who led us with humor & pleasant nonsense.
Thanks, I never knew any of this, but it’s great. As a kid in Florida it was always exciting to see the flamingoes in yards but, would you believe it, my parents flatly refused to buy them. Something about taste? I have my own flamingos now, but my husband insists they remain in the back yard.
makes my day… damn!
I'm going to hug my vintage Union Plastic penguin a little tighter today.
Wow rad that you have one!
I too have had my lawn “flamingoed “…….what a great article!!
What a great story to start the day. Thank you Bailey!

A fabulous collection. Nicely done!
A perfect marriage of life and art. Thanks for this burst of joy.
Well told! An enjoyable journey with you and the Featherstones. Thanks!
So cool to know he was also behind that very familiar lamb as well!
Now I am wondering, how did we even get started with lawn ornaments, and when?
I guess, first you need a lawn...
I know... he alone made 750 different ornaments. It seems like that is enough variety for the whole world?
This has made my whole damn day! Thank you for writing this
Love this! Thank you!
Indeed an artist I’ve never heard of… and so glad that now I have! Featherstoned with joy! 🦩

I’m smiling from ear to ear, Bailey!
This is so great, Bailey! I love all of this, making people happy and doing things just for the fun of it! 🦩 🩷
Thanks Jolene 💓💓🦩
Awesome! A house down the street always puts out a large number of flamingos with Santa hats every Christmas season. It’s a hoot!
