Thank you for sharing this piece Bailey. I hadn’t heard of Tadao until reading this! Just looked up a few of his pieces and the He Art Museum in China looks incredible! Isn’t it crazy how these designs come to life? Somebody has a thought, designs it, brings all the relevant people together, and through beautiful harmony life is breathed into it. By holding Corbu he was literally channelling inspiration and guidance from Le. If you haven’t already seen the movie Big Hero 6, I think you’d enjoy it 🙏🏽💫

This is a wonderful profile - thank you! My only quibble is that Corbu does not look like Akitas I have seen. Could he have been an Akita mix?

It’s possible! He was a stray. I simply read him referred to as an Akita, so I assume that’s how Ando described him to reporters.

Agree 💯- possibly Akita/Australian Shepherd

I apologize I hit the wrong key! The Miracle Worker as a child and it was there I learned about Helen Keller. I learned how to sign the alphabet. This came in handy over the years like a neighbor who was deaf, all the way up to our amazing Blue Heeler Bowie who was deaf. He recently passed away and it crushed my heart. But I digress... the Akita being the National Dog of Japan, two were gifted to Keller. It was as if these events were to lead me to my Akita, Petey. A family dog for years who protected us. After my husband and I divorced we shared custody of Petey until arthritis because so bad we had to say goodbye.

A few years passed and I met the man who has become my best friend & life partner, and he is - Japanese. By way of his daughter who was not the best pet owner, we ended up with Bowie our deaf blue Heeler.

I actually have written far too much but the beauty of the story touched me and rolled out the memories.

Thank you so much 🤣

BTW - I also thought the Akita in the story was an Akita Mix - mine was a medium full blooded Akita. This dog looks a possible Akita mixed with an Aussie Shepherd.

Beautiful! In my life it seems Japan has always had a special place. From learning a bit about Kanji to getting a beautiful black puppy, which happened to be an Akita. One of my favorite people who I learned more about was Helen Keller. I saw
